Great pictures of results of the monsoons. Is dosa a type of flatbread? Looks like you could've eaten off that for a few days.
Will they be celebrating Nagpanchami, Hindu snake festival, where you're staying? I've seen two references on when it's held: one says July the other one says August.
I think dosas are made from chickpea flour. They're like a crispy crepe, with potatoes inside. So yummy.
I accidentally stumbled upon Nagpanchami last time I was here. I was walking through the markets, and I saw tons of people selling printed and hand-painted pictures of the nagas to paste on doorways. I bought tons of them, but most of them got destroyed in transit. It's on August 4th this year, and I plan to go back to the markets to look at that stuff. I don't know what else they do on that day, though, other than make offerings and change the pictures. Tibetans don't observe it, I think. I'll have to ask around.
